Mission 5 - Tra Van, Vietnam

August 2018

Classrooms, teacher’s quarters, kitchen & playground. Food, supplies, clothing, plastic shoes & School uniforms for the village of TRA VAN. A village of 45 families of 150 adults & 60 children.

A team of builders and locals completed the building process using funds we supplied. Myself along with another 20 volunteers from Hoi An & Ho Chi Minh travelled to the village to inspect the completed work. We distributed food, 2nd hand clothing, new plastic shoes & school uniforms to the children & the people of Tra Van.

Volunteers working on the project all gave of their time & in fact, paid for food & amp; petrol. Those who travelled from Ho Chi Minh deserve a special mention as their travel costs were also paid by themselves.

Mission 4 - Tra Don Village

May 2018

Food, supplies and a Television to the village of TRA DON.  A village of 200 families & more than 600 children.  Tra Don village south Trà My town, Quang Nam province. There are three small villages that belong to Tra Don, very isolated in the mountains. A road trip of 5.5 hours saw us arrive at a small central village where the village people had walked for 4 hours to meet us. On our return trip, exhausted from working in the extreme humidity and trying to sleep in the air-conditioned bus, I had to remind myself that the people we had just helped were walking back for 4 hours carrying the 12 to 14 kg of foodstuff we had just left with them. All of a sudden I was not was tired.

MISSION 3 – TRA TAP

March 2017

Food & supplies to the village of Tra Tap. Another very remote village in the mountains where access is available only on foot. The truck is parked at the outpost shop after an arduous 7 hour drive. A 4 hour trek to the village ensued but due to the wet conditions I was not allowed to walk to the village for safety reasons. 30 villagers came to meet us & the provisions distributed amongst them to be carried back in thatched baskets on their back.

Mission 2 - Tra My, Vietnam - School Facilities

November 2016

Classrooms, teachers quarters & playground were built for the village of  Tra My. A village of extreme remoteness across rivers & steep gully’s in the mountains. From Hoi An to South Tra My it takes 6 hours by motorbikes then we park and climb up to the top of the mountains, a physically taxing hike of 3 hours, carrying all the supplies & building materials. The mountain road is really rough and tortuous. There are 70 children in 20 households.
