We were taken to visit this family by the local official Mr Phuoc & and our Vietnamese representative Mrs Nguyen Tram, during our charity mission in Vietnam in February 2025. The family are in urgent need of our support. They currently live in Hoa Village, Thanh My Town, Nam Giang District.
We met Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thanh, a mother struggling with severe hip osteoarthritis, who has been living in appalling conditions. The home she shares with her daughter, Cai Muc Thao, and her grandson, Cai Muc Tien, is in a dilapidated state, with broken walls, leaking roofs and numerous hazards that compromise their safety and well-being. It is heartbreaking to witness fellow human beings living in such dire circumstances in today’s world.
Ms. Thanh lost her husband many years ago, and her health struggles have made it increasingly difficult for her to provide for her family. Her daughter, Thao, does her best to support them, despite facing her own challenges, including being a single mother without a stable job. Their resilience is inspiring, but they urgently need our assistance.
We are grateful to announce that Max Hamond, a long-time supporter of our charity, has generously donated a dairy cow to help this family.
We raised the necessary funds to build them a new, humble home – one that will provide them with a secure, safe, and dry environment. While it may not match the standards we are accustomed to in Australia and other Western countries, it will be a significant improvement for them. The cost to do this was $7500 AUD
Unfortunately, land that was going to be used to build the new home was removed from the market it is no longer available. The funds raised to build this home will now be put to good use to assist family as outlined in mission 68.
