At Change The One, we believe even the smallest act of kindness can create a ripple effect that changes lives forever. Founded in Melbourne, Australia, Change The One is a volunteer run charity dedicated to supporting remote and underprivileged communities throughout Vietnam, Philippines, Papua New Guinea and other regions in need across Asia and the Pacific.

What began as a vision from founder Peter Nicholls after witnessing the devastation caused by the Papua New Guinea tsunami in 1997 has grown into a hands-on humanitarian organisation focused on practical, sustainable change.

Our missions provide clean drinking water, essential disaster relief, educational resources, school facilities, medical support and community infrastructure to people living in some of the most challenging conditions. Our primary focus is providing education. Without education, poverty is self-perpetuating. This education is delivered in their own location and within their own environment, so they can choose the direction in life they want to follow. We also focus on creating long-term sustainability through initiatives such as our Cow Project, helping families build independence, security and hope for the future.

Unlike many charities, Change The One has no paid employees. Every dollar raised goes directly towards supporting projects and helping communities in need. Our volunteers work both in Australia and on the ground with the local authorities of the communities we support, ensuring real connection, real impact and real change.

From funding village kitchens, sanitation blocks, freshwater filtration and classrooms to supplying bicycles for children, supporting orphanages and empowering families through sustainable farming projects, every mission is driven by one purpose.
