Our Missions

Since 2016 Change The One has been providing funds to help individuals and villages in Vietnam and Papua New Guinea to improve their living conditions.  Since becoming a registered charity in 2018 CTO has funded 32 different projects(missions) including school buildings, diary cows, bikes, water bores, food, and home renovations.

Details of each mission are provided in the menu tabs above by year.

Following is a summary of all the projects that have been undertaken by Change The One over the years with the amount of funding provided for each. 

Building Hope, Dignity and Opportunity

Mission 72 took the Change the One team back to Vietnam to inspect several major projects funded by our generous supporters and to strengthen partnerships that will help transform many more lives in the years ahead.

Bikes and Computers and Deaf students - Philippines​

We feel incredibly fortunate to have received generous funding from Dean Spicer of Recips Electrical and BNI Peak Performance, which allowed us to purchase 40 bicycles for students in dire need.

Flood Relief Philippines

On October 21, 2024, a severe storm struck the Philippines, leaving devastating impacts across 13 regions and 29 provinces. This tragic event displaced over 300,000 individuals, deeply affecting communities, especially in Laguna, which was declared under a State of Calamity.

We have been able to set up a wonderful facility for the training of the sewing machines and also with the potential to use it for the training of a dressing making and also manicure and pedicures.

TET, Is an incredibly important part of the calendar for the Vietnamese families. This is the start of the lunar new year with all family members getting together to celebrate and also a celebration of those who have passed and remembrance of all those who are no longer with them.

Her family is poor. Her husband worked as a builder and on his way home he got an accident and passed away 5 years ago. She is usually sick and makes money by collecting used things.

Cows, Bikes, Food & Other Supplies - Tam Lanh & Ho Chi Minh

Chris Tierney and Peter Nicholls attended the Mission to Vietnam in April 2023. Tram our main volunteer and manager in Vietnam picked us up early on the Monday morning when we first visited a lady we gave a dairy cow to who has two twin boys 19 years of age with severe brain damage and cannot work.

Ms. Mai Thi Phuoc was born in 1984, – Tien Ha, Her poor household with her husband who lost the ability to work, Ms Mai Thi Phuoc everyday she goes to catch snails to sell, and this morning she has gone forever without coming back, possibly drowned.
Leaving behind 3 children! The oldest is 7 years old, the youngest is 2 years old!

Volunteers are going to go in, re-do the lower house to be more sure, so that the children won’t be cold when they have to stay away from mom this winter

Change the One were invited to do a presentation to BNI members (Business Networking International) of the work they are doing in Vietnam & the needs of the children. One of the difficulties is the long distances the country children trave to school each day.

Flood Relief

COVID 19 hit Vietnam as it did the rest of the world. Add to that the devastation of cyclones & floods the worst in their history. October & November 2020 saw some 200,000 homes submerged by flood waters, in excess of 5,000,000 people homeless & hundreds had lost their lives or were missing.

We were asked to support the people of Tam Lanh, Phu Ninh District & the surrounding mountains by providing, dairy cows, a fresh water bore, pushbikes & small home renovations.

Fresh water. Previously this village had to walk for 3 hours to then carry back water they should not have been drinking as it was polluted from a lake contaminated with Cyanide & Agent Orange.

Food Supplies for the village of Tra Nam

(192 children. 200 klm west of Hoi An)

With the help of so many volunteers from the Ong Vang group, the trucks & motorbikes were loaded up & the adventure started. Encountering hills that are too steep to get the truck up, roads that are impassable even with a 4×4.
