Our Missions

Mission 72 took the Change the One team back to Vietnam to inspect several major projects funded by our generous supporters and to strengthen partnerships that will help transform many more lives in the years ahead.

Mission 71 took us to the vibrant community of Los Baños, Laguna, where we were privileged to deliver three practical initiatives that are already making a meaningful difference to the daily lives of children and families.

We are absolutely thrilled to share some wonderful news that exemplifies the incredible impact of your generous support!

We feel incredibly fortunate to have received generous funding from Dean Spicer of Recips Electrical and BNI Peak Performance, which allowed us to purchase 40 bicycles for students in dire need.

We are deeply humbled and filled with gratitude as we share the wonderful addition to the Thien Tam Social Assistance Facility, a shaded area where children with disabilities and their families now have a safe and comfortable space to meet, eat and play together.

We were taken to visit this family by the local official Mr Phuoc & and our Vietnamese representative Mrs Nguyen Tram, during our charity mission in Vietnam in February 2025.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude as we share the incredible impact of the new freshwater filtration system now serving the Thien Tam Social Assistance Facility in Tam Phuoc Commune, Phu Ninh District, Quang Nam Province.

In 2025, our journey to Vietnam was driven by a deep commitment to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

Christmas is a precious time of year, marked by the joy of family, friends, and the spirit of giving. Yet, too many families live in absolute poverty, facing dire conditions with little to nothing during this season.

On October 21, 2024, a severe storm struck the Philippines, leaving devastating impacts across 13 regions and 29 provinces. This tragic event displaced over 300,000 individuals, deeply affecting communities, especially in Laguna, which was declared under a State of Calamity.

We have been able to set up a wonderful facility for the training of the sewing machines and also with the potential to use it for the training of a dressing making and also manicure and pedicures.

Abby Quilloy, manager in the Philippines was approached by the local government official Mr Jhun to see if Change the One could assist with the following missions & also as a follow up to past missions;

TET, Is an incredibly important part of the calendar for the Vietnamese families. This is the start of the lunar new year with all family members getting together to celebrate and also a celebration of those who have passed and remembrance of all those who are no longer with them.

Visited the Vice Mayor and Jhun (coordinator of Sanggunian) and discussed their Proposal for the Bridge and Sewing Machine.

Her family is poor. Her husband worked as a builder and on his way home he got an accident and passed away 5 years ago. She is usually sick and makes money by collecting used things.

The family’s situation is extremely difficult, unable to build and repair houses.

Thu is a single mother. Her husband passed away many years ago of sickness. Working very hard to make money to support her father and daughter. With the bad health condition is limited her to find job.

In August of 2023 a group of 21 volunteers travelled to Vietnam to assist in many current missions at the time and also to inspect past achievements that had been done by Change the One.

Chris Tierney and Peter Nicholls attended the Mission to Vietnam in April 2023. Tram our main volunteer and manager in Vietnam picked us up early on the Monday morning when we first visited a lady we gave a dairy cow to who has two twin boys 19 years of age with severe brain damage and cannot work.

The Girl is now a seventh grader, class 7/3, Luong The Vinh junior high school, An Hoa hamlet, Duy Trung town, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province

The family asked for help to build a toilet .

This is a single mother who has a poor health condition and is trying her best to do light jobs to get money to take care of the family .

TET is the the Vietnamese New Year celebration, occurring during the first seven days of the first month of the lunar calendar. This mission, through the generosity of so many Change the One supporters.

The trip I have just returned from was an amazing success but also reminded me yet again of the difficult circumstances these people are confronted with every day.

Mr. Tran Hai Viet, born in 1986, used to be a farmer then became a factory worker. However, his health now doesn’t allow him to work as a factory worker.

This mission, through the generosity of so many Change the One supporters, saw the delivery of;

The latest trip to Vietnam was extremely successful whilst heart wrenching at times. Change the One was extremely fortunate to receive the support & the gift of handmade Beanies to distribute to those in need in Vietnam.

The generosity of Gavin & Jennifer Connelly & KMS accountants & Count Foundation enabled us to buy 2 dairy cows for 2 families that will make a huge difference & change their lives in the most profound way.

Ms. Mai Thi Phuoc was born in 1984, – Tien Ha, Her poor household with her husband who lost the ability to work, Ms Mai Thi Phuoc everyday she goes to catch snails to sell, and this morning she has gone forever without coming back, possibly drowned.
Leaving behind 3 children! The oldest is 7 years old, the youngest is 2 years old!

Volunteers are going to go in, re-do the lower house to be more sure, so that the children won’t be cold when they have to stay away from mom this winter

Change the One were invited to do a presentation to BNI members (Business Networking International) of the work they are doing in Vietnam & the needs of the children. One of the difficulties is the long distances the country children trave to school each day.

COVID 19 & unemployment hit Vietnam as it did the rest of the world. Add to that the devastation of cyclones & floods the worst in their history.

The location of the Dormitory / school is at, Den Pin village, Tra Leng commune, South Tra My province, Vietnam. Through your generosity we have been able to fund.

COVID 19 hit Vietnam as it did the rest of the world. Add to that the devastation of cyclones & floods the worst in their history. October & November 2020 saw some 200,000 homes submerged by flood waters, in excess of 5,000,000 people homeless & hundreds had lost their lives or were missing.

Something that always touches my soul is the hardship that these gentle people face every day seems insurmountable but the resilience they show & the “get on with life” attitude is something that I admire so greatly.

The inaugural Gala dinner on Saturday 23rd November 2019, was a tremendous success with over $40,000.00 being raised.

Dear supporters of Change the One,

We were asked to support the people of Tam Lanh, Phu Ninh District & the surrounding mountains by providing, dairy cows, a fresh water bore, pushbikes & small home renovations.

Fresh water. Previously this village had to walk for 3 hours to then carry back water they should not have been drinking as it was polluted from a lake contaminated with Cyanide & Agent Orange.

(192 children. 200 klm west of Hoi An)

With the help of so many volunteers from the Ong Vang group, the trucks & motorbikes were loaded up & the adventure started. Encountering hills that are too steep to get the truck up, roads that are impassable even with a 4×4.

The visits were to an orphanage, a palliative care & respite care for those with severe disabilities & terminal illnesses run by nuns & monks.

Classrooms, teacher’s quarters, kitchen & playground. Food, supplies, clothing, plastic shoes & School uniforms for the village of TRA VAN. A village of 45 families of 150 adults & 60 children.

Food, supplies and a Television to the village of TRA DON. A village of 200 families & more than 600 children. Tra Don village south Trà My town, Quang Nam province.

Food & supplies to the village of Tra Tap. Another very remote village in the mountains where access is available only on foot.
