At Change the One, we believe that sometimes the smallest gifts can have the greatest impact.
Mission 71 took us to the vibrant community of Los Baรฑos, Laguna, where we were privileged to deliver three practical initiatives that are already making a meaningful difference to the daily lives of children and families.

One of the highlights of this mission was the distribution of reading glasses to members of the local community. For many recipients, something as simple as being able to read a book, complete paperwork, sew, study, or clearly see a mobile phone screen had become increasingly difficult.
The joy on people's faces as they tried on glasses and could once again read clearly was incredibly moving. What many of us take for granted, the ability to see clearly, can restore confidence, independence and dignity.

These reading glasses were generously donated by one of Change the One's long-time supporters, Cheryl Sidebottom, whose kindness continues to touch lives both in Australia and overseas.

Cheryl's generosity reminds us that even a simple pair of glasses can help someone regain their independence and improve their quality of life.

Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty.

Many children in the Philippines walk long distances each day to attend school, often leaving home before sunrise and returning late in the afternoon. These lengthy journeys can be physically exhausting and in some cases, discourage regular school attendance.

Through Mission 71, Change the One was delighted to provide ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ ๐›๐ข๐œ๐ฒ๐œ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ to local students.
These bicycles are much more than a means of transport, they represent opportunity.

They mean:
โ€ข More time in the classroom.
โ€ข Less physical exhaustion.
โ€ข Improved school attendance.
โ€ข Greater independence.
โ€ข More time with family.
โ€ข A brighter future through education.

For these children, a bicycle is not simply a gift- it is an investment in their future.

Mission 71 also provided specialised tumbling mats for children participating in the local Filipino martial arts program.

Until now, these dedicated young athletes had been practising throws, rolls and tumbling techniques on a hard concrete surface, increasing the risk of injury during training.

The new mats provide a far safer training environment, allowing instructors to teach with greater confidence while giving students the opportunity to develop their skills in a safer and more supportive setting.

Sport teaches discipline, respect, teamwork and perseverance- qualities that extend far beyond the training area and into everyday life.

Projects like these are only possible because of the incredible people who generously give their time, resources and support.

A heartfelt thank you to Abigail Quilloy, whose local knowledge, organisation and unwavering commitment once again ensured the mission ran smoothly and reached those who needed it most.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Sir Jhun Lopez, Government Representative, for his valued assistance, support and collaboration throughout the project. Working together with local leaders helps ensure that every initiative is delivered where it can have the greatest and most lasting impact.

Mission 71 is a powerful reminder that meaningful change does not always require large-scale projects.
Sometimes, a pair of reading glasses allows a grandmother to read again.

Sometimes, a bicycle helps a child stay in school.

Sometimes, a training mat gives a young athlete the confidence to pursue their dreams safely.
Each act of kindness creates another opportunity. Each opportunity changes a life. Each changed life strengthens a community.

At Change the One, this is why we do what we do.

Because no act of kindness is ever too small.
